Job Opening - Music Director

Good Shepherd is seeking a Music Director who will continue our well-developed music program. The Music Director will collaborate with the Pastor(s) and our Worship and Music Team to lead the worship service and the music program. They will also coordinate with other staff and volunteers. 

This is a year-round salaried position, based on approximately 15 to 20 hours per week, primarily from mid-August to mid-June. The work hours and time are determined by the duties, responsibilities and program needs outlined in the Job Description.

Adult Choir

 “O Lord, I will praise you with all my heart and tell everyone about the marvelous things you do. I will be glad, yes filled with joy because of you. I will sing your praises, O Lord above all gods.”

The Adult Choir is the core of our music program.  Everyone is welcomed to share in this ministry.  Our music is as diverse as our membership.  We celebrate God’s love with contemporary, traditional, ethnic, folk, spiritual, gospel, jazz and other great music that is part of our 2000-year-old musical heritage.  Please be part of our joy!

Rehearsals:                Wednesday, 7:15 – 8:30 pm
Services:                     Every Sunday, 9:00 am

Handbell Choir

Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. 
Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. 
Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.”

Our Handbell Choir, comprised of five octaves of handbells and four octaves of hand chimes, is an exciting and growing part of music ministry.  .
 
Rehearsals:               Wednesday, 8:30 – 9:15 (as scheduled)
Services:                    throughout the church season

Youth Choir

“God has given each of you some special abilities, be sure to use them to help each other,
passing to others God’s many kinds of blessings . . .
Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies so that God will be glorified.”

The Youth Choir serves as the perfect place for our Middle, Junior and Senior High members to come together for fellowship and common purpose.  We strive to create beautiful and meaningful music while realizing our place as leaders in worship.
 
Membership:                Grades 6 through 12
Rehearsals:                  Sunday, 10:45 – 11:15
Services:                      Fourth Sundays, 11:00

Junior Choir

“Love God with the whole of our hearts, the whole of our intelligence
and the whole of our energy.”
(Mark 12:32 & 33)

 And do we have energy!  Junior Choir combines two of the best things about being a Christian – service and fellowship.  An emphasis on serving our church, kid-friendly music, good vocal training and lots of fun make choir the place to be!
 
Membership:              Grades 2 through 5
Rehearsals:                 Wednesday, 6:30 – 7:00
Services:                      First Sundays, 11:00

Cherub Choir

“From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise.”  (Psalm 8:2)

 
Our Cherub Choir never fails to elicit smiles (and occasionally cheers) from our congregation.  Our God must be equally pleased with our youngest singers.  Cherub Choir offers children one of their very first opportunities to find happiness in making music together and in spreading that happiness to others.    Contact Chris Simcox at 215-478-5458 or simcoxcl@msn.com for more information.

Vocal and Instrumental Music

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.  If a man’s gift is prophesying,
let him use it.  If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach,
